Privacy Policy

Effective 8 November 2026 · Applies to Nyuz for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and to the website nyuz.app

The short version

  • Nyuz has no accounts, no sign-up and no login.
  • We do not collect, store, sell or share your personal data. We have no server that receives it.
  • No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs in the app.
  • Your sources, settings, saved stories, highlights and dictionary stay on your device.
  • To show news and prices, the app connects directly to the services you see in it (listed below). Those services see an ordinary internet request from your device.

1. Who we are

Nyuz is an app made by an independent developer, Baz (“we”, “us”). If you have any question about this policy, write to help@nyuz.app.

2. Information we do not collect

We do not ask for, and do not receive, your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, device identifiers or advertising identifier. Nyuz does not use Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt because it does not track you. We do not build profiles, and we do not know which stories you read.

3. Information kept on your device

Everything you set up in Nyuz is stored only on your own device, in the app’s private storage:

  • the news sources and categories you add, reorder or rename;
  • your preferences (language, appearance, app icon, fonts, colours, speed, refresh and notification choices);
  • stories you save, text you highlight, and words you add to your dictionary;
  • a small cache of recent headlines and source logos, so the app opens quickly.

The home-screen widget reads the same data through a shared container on your device. Deleting the app removes all of this. You can also clear it at any time with Settings → Reset All.

iCloud. If a future version offers iCloud sync and you turn it on, the same settings will be copied to your own iCloud account so your devices stay in step. That data is held by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy; we cannot read it. You will be able to turn it off in Settings.

4. Services the app connects to

Nyuz has no server of its own. To do its job, it makes requests straight from your device to the services below. Like any website you visit, these services receive your device’s IP address and basic technical details (for example, the type of device and software making the request). They handle that information under their own privacy policies, not ours.

ServiceWhy the app contacts itWhat it receives
News publishers (each RSS source you follow, including Google News feeds)To download headlinesA request for that source’s feed

Reading a story. When you open a story, it loads the publisher’s own web page inside the app’s browser. That page, including any advertising or analytics the publisher uses, is governed by the publisher’s privacy policy. Cookies set by those sites are kept on your device.

5. Notifications and background refresh

If you allow notifications, Nyuz checks your chosen sources in the background and creates alerts on your device. There is no push-notification server, and no notification token is sent to us. You can change this at any time in Nyuz’s settings or in your device’s Settings.

6. Purchases

Nyuz Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details, name or Apple Account. The app only learns from Apple whether Pro is unlocked. See Apple’s privacy policy.

7. This website

nyuz.app uses no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard technical data (such as IP address) to deliver and protect the site. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads. The site remembers your chosen language in your browser’s local storage; this never leaves your device. If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.

8. Children

Nyuz is a general-audience news reader and is not directed at children under 13. Because we collect no personal data, we do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or move your personal data, and to object to its use. Because Nyuz keeps your data only on your device, you can exercise these rights directly: view or change it in the app, and delete it with Reset All or by deleting the app. We do not sell or share personal information. For anything else, contact help@nyuz.app. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.

10. Security

All connections the app makes use HTTPS where the source supports it. Your data stays inside the app’s protected storage on your device, covered by your device’s own security, such as its passcode and encryption.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change how Nyuz handles data, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
